Model-making contest marks Natl. Science Day at St. Philos

Mysore/Mysuru: In a vibrant display of scientific temper and creativity, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of Physics (UG & PG) at St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru, jointly organised the Oak Jubilee National Science Day-2026 (Phase II) Model- Making Competition on Mar.24 in the college auditorium.

The competition featuring nearly 40 working models displayed by students from various city colleges was formally inaugurated and presided over by Rector Rev. Dr. Lourdu Prasad Joseph.

College Principal Dr. Ravi J.D. Saldanha, Vice-Principal (Administration) Ronald Prakash Cutinha, IQAC Coordinator and Head of the Department of Physics A. Thomas Gunaseelan, PG Physics Head Dr. Sachin and IQAC Co-Coordinator Dr. V. Deepa were present on the occasion.

Cash prizes were awarded to the best three models presented during the competition.

The diverse array of physics models was judged by a panel consisting of Prakash Cutinha, Uzma Bathool and  Lydia Vandana.

The initiative was spearheaded by A. Thomas Gunaseelan, HoD of Physics and IQAC Coordinator, highlighting the institution’s commitment to academic quality and innovation.

The event was supported by Physics faculty members Sub Lt. Eliezer Vishwas, S. Chandana (UG), Impana, S. Chandana (PG) and R. Manimozhi.
