Hassan: The Gomateshwara statue located on the Vindhyagiri in Shravanabelagola will have a modern scaffolding to facilitate the Mahamastakabhisheka to be held during February, next year.
The Public Works Department (PWD), which will construct the scaffolding, conducted a demonstration in the presence of district level officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, here on Tuesday. The 15ft scaffolding for demonstration was constructed by the employees of private firm using German technology.
The 60 ft scaffolding will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 12 crore atop the statue of Gommateshwara and it is expected to accommodate around 5,000 devotees at a time. The works on scaffolding are expected to be completed by November, this year.
District in-Charge Secretary and Mysore Minerals Limited Managing Director Naveen Raj Singh, Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, ZP CEO K.M. Janaki, PWD officials and others were present on the occasion.
