Mysuru: The District Administration and the Railway authorities are on their toes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden visit to Mysuru Railway Station where he will flag off the Humsafar Express Train and Electric Train service from Mysuru to Bengaluru on Feb.19. Modi will spend nearly half-an-hour at the Station. Later, he will address a public rally at Maharaja’s College Grounds. Ahead of Modi’s visit, a 15-member team that is a part of the Special Protection Group (SPG) arrived in city this morning and visited all those areas where the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit.
The team visited Mysore Airport, Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel, Helipad, J.K. Grounds, Maharaja’s College Grounds and the City Railway Station.
Today afternoon, the SPG team will hold a closed-door security meeting at the Railway Office with Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, City Police Commissioner Dr. A Subrahmanyeswara Rao, Divisional Railway Manager Atul Gupta, Mysore Airport Director Manoj Kumar Singh, DCP (Law and Order) N. Vishnuvardhana, DCP (Crime and Traffic) Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and other top officers.
PM’s security
SPG, the most professional, best trained and well equipped proximate security agency in the country, will literally take over the venues where Modi is scheduled to visit. Any stage, tent, dais or any temporary structure to be used by the PM in any of his public meetings would first be stress-tested by engineers for structural stability and then certified by fire department before being used by Modi. After the engineers’ certification, the SPG will take over the places and sanitise them. Sources said that the SPG members have reportedly expressed their reservations on the PM’s chopper landing at J.K. Grounds as it is ‘unsafe’. The authorities will now have to find another location for the chopper to land.
Preparations at Rly Station
On their part, the Railway authorities have started making the necessary preparations and beautifying the station. Painting is being carried out wherever necessary and repair works have been undertaken. Security has been given utmost importance and priority has been given to ensure cleanliness. The station is being made more attractive by putting up attractive 3-D art work at the subway.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Satellite Terminal Station at Naganahalli, which will be coming up at a cost of Rs. 789 crore.
