Moonlight Music at Suttur Mutt tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Suttur Mutt, Mysuru Branch, has organised 270th edition of Moonlight Music Concert at the Mutt premises, foot of Chamundi Hill, in city tomorrow (Aug. 19) from 6 pm.

The concert will feature team ‘Brahma’ comprising of Vid. Amith A. Nadig (Flute), Vid. B.C. Manjunath (Mridanga), Vid. Guruprasanna (Kanjira) and Vid. B.R. Somashekar Jois (Konnakol) presenting a classical music concert in the presence of Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji.

Vid. Amith A. Nadig, a renowned flautist, hails from a family of musicians. Having completed his primary music education from Vid. B.K. Ananthram, Nadig has been a disciple of Vid. R.K. Srikantan from many years.  An Akashavani ‘A’ grade artiste, Nadig has presented concerts in various countries including USA, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France among others. He has also collaborated with many Karnatak, Hindustani, Jazz and Fusion artistes. Nadig has received many awards including Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar by Kendriya Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ananya Yuva Puraskar among others. Currently, is working as Head (Q&D), Netserv Technologies.

Vid. B.C. Manjunath is the son of renowned mridanga artiste Vidyanidhi Dr. B.K. Chandramouli. A disciple of  Vid. K.S. Krishnamurthy and Padma Shri Dr. T.K. Murthy, Manjunath is well-versed in Indian Classical Music, World Music, Jazz and contemporary dance. He has invented various Talas apart from collaborating with renowned musicians. Vid. Manjunath, an ‘A’ grade Akashavani artiste, is a recipient of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, Ganakala Sri Award, among others.

Vid. G. Guruprasanna is well known kanjira artiste who can adapt to Karnatak, Hindustani, Jazz and contemporary music. He has been a student of Vid. R. Satyakumar, Vid. Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma and Vid. C.P. Vyasaguru Vittala. He has also been awarded with Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar by Sangeet Natak Akademi. An ‘A Top’ grade Akashavani artistes, Vid. Guruprasanna, an M.Tech graduate from Birla Institute of Technology, is the Co-founder of Samathva Foundation.

Vid. B.R. Somashekar Jois is a student of Vid. K.N. Krishnamurthy, Vid. B.C. Manjunath, Vid. K.V. Prasad and Vid. Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma. He has also received guidance from Vid. Sanaka Kumar Athreya and Vid. N. Amruth. An ‘A grade’ artiste in both Akashavani and Doordarshan, Vid. Somashekar has secured 1st rank in mridanga Vidwat examination along with scholarship from the Central Government. He has also received many awards including CMANA award, Raga Laya Prabha Award and Ananya Yuva Award. He is the founder of World Konnakol Academy and a prominent member of Laya Lavanya Band.
