Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Moonlight Music-255, Vidu. Sooryagayathri from Kerala will present a vocal concert at Suttur Mutt, foot of Chamundi Hill, on June 4 (Sunday) at 6 pm.
She will be accompanied by Vid. P.V. Sunil on tabla, Vid. P.V. Anil on mridanga and Vid. Vazhappally Krishnakumar on ghata.
Vidu. Sooryagayathri: The 17-year-old is the daughter of mridanga Vidwan P.V. Anil Kumar and poetess V.K. Divya from Kerala. Musician Kuldeep M. Pai has been her mentor. The videos on several social media sites featuring Sooryagayathri in ‘Vande Guru Paramparaam,’ a spiritual musical series produced by Kuldeep Pai, have raving reception in nations far and wide.
Sooryagayathri has already given 500 concerts across the country and abroad.
She has been an Ambassador of Karnatak Music in Australia, Singapore, Qatar, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Kuwati, Bahrain and other countries.
Sooryagayathri has been awarded ‘M.S. Subbulakshmi Fellowship’ given by Mumbai Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha at a very tender age of 10.
She has also been honoured with ‘Trivandram Kalanidhi Sangeeth Ratna’ Award, ‘Balagana Kalabharati’ Award given by Chennai’s Bharat Kalaachar institution, ‘Samaja Sakthi’ Award and ‘Bhakti Gana Kokila’ given by Sri Hariharaputhra Bhajan Samaj, Mumbai.
