Sir,
This is with reference to the views expressed by Chandrahas and Sreenivasa Murthy in this column recently on vehicle number plates.
I too have seen many two-wheelers such as motor-bikes, scooters (non-electric vehicles) plying in extension areas such as Vijayanagar II Stage and Hebbal sans rear number plates.
It is observed that a few tractors which carry soil, sand and bricks also do not have rear number plates. Either they are not clear or erased even though number plate is fixed.
Besides, most of the two-wheeler riders are using mobile phone while driving which is very dangerous as they may cause accidents.
As there is no regular and thorough checking of vehicles in extension areas, the motorists are not afraid of being caught.
One can also see minors riding scooters/bikes with pillion riders in extensions such as Hebbal and Vijayanagar II Stage, even though the authorities concerned have given stern warnings to their parents/guardians.
I request the Traffic Police Officers to have a check on these traffic offenders and impose hefty fines in order to curtail these traffic offences in future.
