Mandya: A 25-year-old mother of two children, depressed over incurable skin disease, allegedly drowned her two children in a water drum and later committed suicide by hanging self at her house in Shivanahalli at Nagamangala taluk in the district yesterday afternoon.
While the mother is identified as Shivamma alias Mahalakshmi, wife of Manjunath, a Gram Panchayat employee, the two children are Santosh (2) and Sathvik (7-month-old).
It is learnt that Shivamma and her two children were suffering from skin related ailments and despite medications, they were not cured.
On Sunday afternoon, when the family members had gone out, a depressed Shivamma allegedly killed her two children, kept their bodies on a mat and later hanged herself.
Before taking the extreme step, Shivamma has written two death notes, asking her husband to forgive her in one of the death notes and mentioning about the skin disease in the other note.
Nagamangala Rural Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
