Nanjangud: A 65-year-old woman and her 44-year-old son were killed in a road accident in front of APMC on Hullahalli Road in the town on Friday.
The deceased are Manjunath, an employee of Rajshil Papers Pvt Ltd. in Nanjangud and his mother Rangamma, residents of Teachers Colony in the town.
Details: Manjunath and his mother were proceeding on Hullahalli road to distribute house warming ceremony invitations and when they neared the APMC, the bike collided with another bike resulting in both Manjunath and Rangamma falling from the bike. Rangamma sustained severe head injuries after she fell from the bike, while a water tanker, which was passing close to the bike ran over Manjunath, injuring him seriously.
Though both were being rushed to a hospital, Manjunath breathed his last on the way, while Rangamma succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Another bike rider, who had sustained minor injuries and the water tanker driver have fled from the spot leaving the vehicles behind.
A case has been registered at Nanjangud Traffic Police Station.
