Motherly conscience is key for resolving crisis: Writer

Prof. Aravind Malagatti’s two books released

Mysuru: IPS Officer Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, who is also a writer, said that a poem too is filled with conscience and one should understand that an unconscientious poem cannot reach the heart and minds of the people.

She was speaking after releasing senior littérateur Prof. Aravind Malagatti’s works ‘Yavva Thyavva – Matheya Mahageethe’ and ‘Kavya Dhamaruga’ at a programme organised under the joint aegis of Malagatti Dashabala Trust, Mysuru, Writers Academy, Mysuru and Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS), University of Mysore (UoM) at B.M. Shri auditorium in Manasagangothri here yesterday.

Pointing out that a poem needs a gentle language, Dr. Dharanidevi said that these days poems can also be scripted using AI (Artificial Intelligence). But the question is whether they will be a good one, she said and observed that such ones may lack in emotional feelings and wisdom.

“A poem should shake the mind and take us towards the path of equality and peace. Also it is important that one should lead life as scripted and such poems will stand for long,” she observed.

Critic Dr. M.S. Ashadevi said that a motherly conscience will go a long way in resolving problems and issues. Maintaining that a motherly conscience alone can save the world from violent and perverted forces, she said that the world is facing a situation where it has to confront growing fundamentalism that is repeatedly coming to the fore, bothering the entire world. Noting that all forms of art including Literature have accountability, Dr. Ashadevi said that no one can escape from                          moral responsibility.

Pointing out that we are facing a difficult time when divisive forces are haunting countries over the past three decades, she said that we are living in a crisis like situation. In such a time we have to see art forms just like a doctor for getting remedy to the problems, she said adding that only art forms can purify our mindset.

“Yavva Thyavva – Matheya Mahageethe has portrayed that mother is immortal. The work has come out as a strong advocacy of cultural feminism. Everyone should understand the power of motherly conscience and take it in the mind for their own good,” Dr. Ashadevi argued.

Trust Vice-President Dr. D.K. Rajendra and KIKS Director Dr. N.K. Lolakshi too spoke.

The event was followed by a Kavigoshti (Poets Meet) presided over by poet B.R. Lakshman Rao. Writers Academy Member Dr. N.G. Ramesh, writer Prof. Aravind Malagatti, Maruti Nudivimane and others were present.
