Mother’s Day celebrations: Pregnancy and Delivery Care Campaign at JSS Hospital in city

Slew of health facilities for expectant mothers till June 30

Mysore/Mysuru: On account of Mother’s Day celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May, coinciding with 70th anniversary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, ‘Pregnancy and Delivery Care Campaign’ has been organised from May 24 to June 30 at JSS Hospital on M.G. Road in the city.

Addressing media persons at JSS Hospital premises here on Friday, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath said, “As part of the celebrations, free health check-up is conducted for pregnant women, along with caring them in postpartum period (post delivery) at the hospital, with 150 separate beds reserved for the purpose. So far, 53 cases have been attended and 52 of them have delivered babies with one expected soon. Among them, 22 were normal deliveries and 30 caesarean section (C-Section).”

“In the case of normal delivery, Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 will be charged, but is being conducted at the hospital for free without charging bill. While those delivered through C-Section are provided a concession on charges in the bill,” he added.

Even those women staying 25 to 30 kms far from Mysuru city are also brought in ambulance to the hospital. They will be cared for three days in labour and also provided transportation facility after delivery to ensure safe passage to home. They are even provided free health kits. More women should make use of the benefit, he appealed.

HoD of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JSS Medical College and Hospital, Dr. S. Mamatha, led the team including 18 doctors, 24 PG students and nurses to attend the cases, he added.

Along with this, JSS Mahavidyapeetha has four deemed to be Universities including that of Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Mauritius, offering pre-KG to higher studies, making a mark in the field of education, said Dr. Betsurmath.

Vice-Chancellor, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Dr. Surinder Singh, Medical Superintendent of JSS Hospital Dr. C.P. Madhu, Director, Medical Education, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, R. Mahesh and Principal, JSS Medical College, Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa were present.
