Mysuru: In a tragic incident, a 55-year-old motorcyclist was killed on-the-spot when a huge roadside tree branch fell on him near Harohalli on Mysuru-Manandavadi Road yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Fayaz Pasha (55), a resident of Muslim Block in H.D. Kote town. Fayaz Pasha, said to be a Congress leader of H.D. Kote town, was returning from Mysuru to H.D. Kote on his motorcycle at about 4 pm, when a huge roadside tree branch directly fell on him near Harohalli, killing him on-the-spot, it is learnt.
Jayapura Police have registered a case in this regard.
Upon hearing the news, the deceased Fayaz Pasha’s family members and relatives rushed to the spot and blocked the busy Mysuru-Manandavadi Road for sometime, demanding appropriate compensation and action against Forest Department officials for not trimming the trees despite several representations in this regard. Mysuru Tahsildar Ramesh Babu and other officials rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters, following which the protest was withdrawn.
