Motorists, pedestrians jostle for space to see city’s brighter side

All those who seldom took their cars out of garages owing to COVID lockdown, restrictions and all those who preferred a two-wheeler to run quick errands to the shops and return in a jiffy are now taking their four-wheelers out on the streets of the city to see Dasara illumination.

The city has been lit up in a win-win situation for both the slagging tourism sector and also tourists and visitors who have been desperate to come out of the pandemic blues.  Though the streets are clogged with vehicles after 6.30 pm to about 10 pm, the shining vehicles inching ahead under the illuminated serial lights are itself a sight to behold.

Vehicles with roof-top openings and also those expensive cars with panoramic and full glass roofs are in great demand for the occupants to have a 360-degree view of the light art works and illuminated insignias. With the background of Eid Meelad festival, the streets are expected to be full tonight and the momentum is likely to continue till Oct. 24, the last day of illumination.
