Mysore/Mysuru: MP Pratap Simha inspected the construction site for a mega hostel announced by the previous BJP Government opposite Saraswathipuram Police Station here on June 12.
The BJP Government last year had announced that it would construct mega student hostels at four places in the State including Mysuru.
Speaking to press persons, Simha said the hostel would accommodate 1,000 students (500 boys and 500 girls) and there would be separate gents and ladies blocks.
Pointing out that Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate students would be accommodated in this hostel, he said that 300 seats are meant for UG and 200 for PG students.
The University of Mysore (UoM) has asked 60 percent of the hostel seats for its students, he said adding that it is a fair demand which will be considered.
Maintaining that the hostel would start functioning from the next academic year, he said that complaints regarding lack of facilities and poor quality food in student hostels would be appropriately addressed.
UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Loknath, Corporator Vedavathi and others were present during the MP’s visit.
