MP Prathap Simha files criminal defamation case against KPCC Spokesperson Lakshmana

Bengaluru: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha has filed defamation cases against KPCC Spokesperson M. Lakshmana in the 32nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court (ACMM) in Bengaluru, according to a press release issued by MP Prathap Simha’s office this morning.

The MP has filed two separate private criminal complaints bearing numbers 6499/2023 and 1391/2024, punishable under IPC sections 499 (making or publishing an imputation about a person with the intent to harm their reputation) and 500 (anyone who defames another person can be punished with up to two years in prison, a fine, or both) in the Court accusing Lakshmana of making defamatory statements against him on 06.07.2023 and 02.02.2024.

The 32nd ACMM Court heard the matter on Jan.22, 2024 following which an order was passed on Feb.2, 2024 by the Judge, allowing both the cases and registered criminal defamation cases against the accused Lakshmana.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, MP Prathap Simha said that it was a message to those who were making baseless allegations against him and his family.

“Lakshmana had been making baseless allegations against me and my family. Following these, I had filed private criminal complaints in the Court submitting relevant documents. Finally, the Court has considered my complaint and registered criminal defamation cases against the accused,” said Prathap Simha, who also warned similar action against those involved in making false and baseless allegations against him.
