MUDA to build Group Houses for poor around city

Mysuru: The MUDA has decided to build EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) and Group Houses to the poor at an affordable price at Government lands located in and around the city.

The MUDA Council Meeting held here yesterday approved a Rs.500 crore action plan for various developmental projects, which included creation of a Hi-tech park, construction of a full-fledged gymnasium and Garadi Mane, Library, rest room for the aged, establishment of drinking water units, etc.

MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar presided over the meeting. The meeting approved acquisition of land in and around Kenchalagudu village in Jayapura hobli of the taluk for formation of a residential layout and to supply furnitures for Maharani Commerce and Management College for Women coming up at Vinayakanagar (Paduvarahalli).

The other decisions taken at the meeting included issuing NOC for construction of a War Memorial at the park (city survey no. 2048) near the DC’s office, allotment of a site at R.T. Nagar to senior actor Jai Jagadish who hails from Mysuru and to write to the DC seeking to hand over 1,150 acres of Government land in each Assembly segment of the city for formation of  layouts and sites.

A total of 93 issues which included 54 concerning the city planning branch, 9 of technical wing, 3 of land acquisition branch and 9 of site allotment section, were discussed apart from approving the Rs.500 crore 2017-18 action plan at yesterday’s meeting.

Legislative Council Dy. Chairman Marithibbegowda, MLAs M.K. Somashekar, G.T. Devegowda and Kalale Keshavamurthy, MLCs R. Dharmasena and K.T. Srikantegowda, MUDA Commissioner Kantharaju and other officials attended the meeting.
