Mysore/Mysuru: It has now come to light that Sagar Deshpande, who was recently arrested by the City Police on charges of cheating several persons to the tune of crores of rupees on the promise of getting MUDA sites, is also involved in similar cheating cases at Bengaluru and Belagavi.
Sagar Deshpande, a 31-year-old owner of a restaurant in city, was arrested by Saraswathipuram Police in Maharashtra’s Shirdi a few days ago on complaints that he had cheated more than 20 persons who included doctors, teachers and advocates of more than Rs. 2 crore collectively, on the promise of getting them MUDA sites.
Sagar Deshpande, a native of Belagavi, is accused of creating fake site documents and fake MUDA letterheads in order to lure MUDA site aspirants to shell out money.
Saraswathipuram Police had registered a case against Sagar Deshpande and B.S. Myna, a lady staff at his restaurant, following a complaint by G. Kavitha and Madina Asghar Nadaf, both residents of Madhuvanahalli Block in K.R. Nagar on Dec. 11, 2020, accusing the duo of cheating them on the promise of getting a MUDA site after receiving a huge sum of money.
The Police, who carried out a probe, discovered that Sagar used to collect money from gullible site aspirants after introducing his restaurant staff Myna as his partner in the site business.
But the Police have not taken any action so far against Myna as there is no evidence of her role in cheating.
The Police probe also revealed that Sagar Deshpande is involved in similar cheating cases at his native Belagavi and the State capital Bengaluru.
