Mysuru: Bowing to the demand of the people, the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has decided to build Swimming Polls at Vijayanagar and Hebbal, in addition to the existing ones at Saraswathipuram, Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Nazarbad and J.P. Nagar.
The MUDA has proposed to build the two Swimming Pools so as to facilitate swimming training and also host National and International Swimming events.
The Swimming Pool at Vijayanagar will come up in the Sports Complex in Vijayanagar 1st Stage.
MUDA Commissioner P.S. Kantharaj said that the MUDA has invited tenders for the construction of Pools and the works are expected to begin in June.
The successful bidder will be tasked with the design, construction and maintenance of the Pools for the first 30 years, following which they can be handed over to MUDA, he said and added that the revenue generated every year should be shared with MUDA.
Welcoming MUDA’s decision to build two more Swimming Pools in city, Mysuru District Swimming Association (MDJA) Hon. Secretary M.C. Manohar said that the Pools will be a boon for budding swimmers.
