MUDA to cancel allotment of 522 CA sites for violation of norms

Mysuru: The MUDA Board meeting held on Wednesday decided to cancel the allotment of 522 CA (Civic Amenities) sites allotted to various organisations for violation of norms. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar, who is also the MUDA Chairman.

During the course of the meeting, MUDA Commissioner P.S. Kantharaj said that a total of 629 CA sites have been distributed over the years right from the time of the then CITB. While the allottees of 107 CA sites have followed norms, the allottees of the remaining 522 sites have violated norms.

As such, the MUDA was mulling invoking the Urban Development Act for cancellation of the allotment of these 522 sites and take back their possession, he said.

Pointing out that the re-allotment of these cancelled CA sites would  fetch MUDA nearly Rs. 100 crore, Kantharaj said the cancellation would also act as a warning to other violators.

Although the MUDA Commissioner’s proposal was welcomed by the Board members, some of the members cited legal hurdles in the cancellation.

However, the meeting unanimously decided on taking back possession of CA sites for violation of norms at a special Board meeting shortly.

The meeting, which  discussed the issue of private layouts, decided to physically inspect whether the sites meant for allotment, had the necessary infrastructure. The meeting also discussed bit of land issue and allotment of alternative sites, among others.

MLAs Tanveer Sait, L. Nagendra, S.A. Ramdas, B. Harshavardhan and Ravindra Srikantaiah, MLCs Sandesh Nagaraj, Marithibbegowda and K.T. Srikantegowda, MUDA Secretary M.K. Savitha, City Planning Member Girish, SE Suresh Babu, EE Prabhakar, Special Land Acquisition Officer Indramma and other officials attended the meeting.
