Murder attempt: Man sentenced to 10 years imprisonment

Mysuru: City’s 4th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 4.10 lakh after he was found guilty of attempting to murder his aunt who had refused his sexual advances. The accused is Shivu alias Shivaraj of Harate Mallarajapatna in Periyapatna.

Shivu was pestering his aunt for physical relationship which she had refused and irked over this, Shivu on June 13, 2016 brutally assaulted his aunt with a machete resulting in his aunt losing her right hand.

The then Periyapatna Police Inspector Ravikiran, who had registered a case, conducted investigation and had submitted a charge-sheet against Shivu to the Court. Judge Hosamani Pundalika, who heard the arguments from both sides, found Shivu guilty of the crime and sentenced him to 10 years and ordered Shivu to deposit the fine amount of Rs. 4.10 lakh to the account of the victim as compensation.
