Mysuru: “Music is like a flowing river which can raise emotions; music is not just a sound and its depth cannot be assessed,” opined Dr. S.C. Sharma, Director, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru.
Delivering the 4th annual convocation address of Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University at Nityotsava Convention Hall here recently, he said “An art and an artiste are remembered eternally without fixing any time-frame.”
Dr. Sharma contended that artistic talent cannot be stolen and asked the students to always be indebted to their parents and teachers. Degree certificates were issued to 85 candidates including 52 women. Gold Medals and cash prizes were presented to 17 candidates including 11 women. Master’s Degree was conferred on 59 candidates.
D. Litt was conferred on Y.N. Balakrishna, Dr. Jyothi Shankar, Dr. C.H. Gururaja Rao and Dr. V. Ranganath (Columnist).
Music University Registrar and acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nagesh V. Bettakote, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr. R. Rajesh and others were present.
