‘Music will help in freeing mind from pressure’

Mysore/Mysuru:  Alliance Club International Director Dr. Nagaraj V. Bairy observed that music has the quality of freeing the mind from pulls and pressures and give a warm feeling.

He  was speaking after presiding over the ‘Maadhyama Ratna’ award conferment and ‘Gaana-Nandana Savigaana-3’ Musical Nite programme organised jointly by Alliance Club of Mysore Nalwadi and Gaana Nandana,Mysuru, at District Kannada Sahitya Bhavan in Vijayanagar first stage here recently.

Noting that the job of a Journalist is a responsible and respected one, Dr. Nagaraj Bairy said that honouring achiever journalists will propel the journalist fraternity to work much better for social good and well being of the society.

Social worker K. Raghuram Vajpayee said that, Mysuru Journalism has maintained its own dignity and pride since the days of the great Thathaiah.

Senior Journalist Amshi Prasannakumar, who spoke after inaugurating the programme, observed that the media should always be Pro-social and Pro-people.

Pointing out that the media acts as a bridge between the Government and the society, he underlined media’s role in informing the public on both domestic and global issues.

Pointing out that the media is considered as the Fourth Pillar of Democracy, with the three others being Legislative, Executive and Judiciary, he stressed on the need for Journalists to maintain integrity and public trust.

 Journalists M.R. Satyanarayan, K.J. Lokesh Babu and Prakash Babu were conferred with ‘Maadhyama Ratna’ award on the occasion. However, the other awardee C.K. Mahendra was absent.

Later, a Bhavageethe and Musical Nite of Old Kannada  songs was presented in which District Kannada Sahitya Parishat former President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, MMC&RI faculty Dr. B.N. Raveesh, Alliance Club of Mysore Nalwadi and Gaana Nandana President N. Bettegowda, Dr. A.S. Poornima, Srilatha Manohar, C.S. Vani and others rendered hit numbers of yesteryears.

District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal, General Secretary Latha Mohan, Organising Secretary M. N. Lokesh, senior theatre personality Rajashekar Kadamba, writer T. Satish Javaregowda and others were present.
