Musical event in memory of Vid. Bellary M. Venkateshachar

Ragalaya Music Institute has organised a day-long music programme on the occasion of the fourth death anniversary of Vidwan Bellary M. Venkateshachar on the 30th of June at Mysuru Vasudevacharya Bhavana on JLB Road.

The programme which starts at 10 am includes tributes by all the disciples by singing the compositions of Vidwan Bellary M. Sheshagiri Achar, felicitation to Senior violinist Vidwan H.K. Narasimhamurthy in the evening, followed by his concert. He will be accompanied by Vidushi Pruthvi Bhaskar on the violin, Vidwan Palladam Ravi on the mridanga and Vidwan Srinidhi R. Kaundinya on the ghata. 

Vidwans Bellary M. Venkateshachar and Sheshagiri Achar,  popularly known as ‘Bellary Brothers’ performed extensively across the nation in 1950s and 1960s. Their performances were filled with rich classicality and soul-touching devotion. They were accompanied in numerous concerts by stalwarts such as Palghat Mani Iyer, Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, Palghat Raghu, T.K. Murthy, M.S. Gopalakrishnan and Umayalapuram Sivaraman. 

Venkateshachar, elder of the two, was an A Top ranking artiste of AIR in Mysuru. He has done a great service to the field of music by training hundreds of students for more than 50 years. Many of them are well-known musicians around the globe. ‘Sangeetha Kalarathna’, ‘Sangeetha Vidyanidhi’ are some of the titles bestowed on him.
