Mysuru lad, 17-year-old Mustafa Raja won the U-18 Tennis BC Provincial Championships in both Singles and Doubles in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Tournament was played at the Tennis BC hub in Richmond for over four days from Feb. 29 to Mar. 4.
Mustafa, seeded second in the Singles, defeated the top seed player Gary Jiang 6-2 5-7 and 6-4. Match lasted for almost 3 hours which saw intense long rallies. Mustafa, partnered with Gelan Su, to win the Doubles title as well.
By virtue of this win, Mustafa qualifies for the U-18 Nationals to be held in Toronto later this month.
Mustafa has in the previous years been the Provincial Champion in U-14 and U-16 too.
Mustafa studied in Excel Public School and trained at the Nagaraj Tennis Centre in Mysuru before moving to Canada in 2019.
