Mysore Airport may not become full-fledged

Sir,

When only two flights operate from the Mysore Airport, it’s no surprise that air traffic is declining significantly. Especially when those two flights are to Hyderabad and Chennai — cities well-served by multiple trains running almost every day.

The Government must resume flights to smaller cities, where passengers can easily take connecting flights to major destinations.

Flights to Hubballi, Goa, Kochi and Pune would allow passengers to connect to larger cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. This would save considerable travel time for passengers, without the need to wait for runway extensions or the operation of larger aircraft.

Given the pace at which our Governments work, it seems unlikely that Mysuru will become a full-fledged airport anytime soon.

Restarting smaller flights to other cities would undoubtedly boost passenger traffic. I hope our MP and the authorities act on this as Dasara approaches.
