The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday ordered counting of votes in the polls held for election of Directors to The Mysore Co-operative Bank Limited, located at Gandhi Square in the heart of the city, on Feb.8. The counting of votes will be taken up at Uttaradi Mutt’s Sri Satyapramoda Kalyana Mantapa (Sri Anjaneya temple) on KRS Road, adjacent to CFTRI, at 9 am.
The polls to elect 12 out of the 13 new Directors (one Director was elected unopposed) of the Bank had taken place at Dasara Exhibition Grounds on Jan.19. There were 39 candidates in all. Out of the 13,500 voters, 10,721 had cast their ballots.
Merchants Co-op. Bank polls counting today
Meanwhile, the counting of votes polled in The Mysore Merchants Co-operative Bank Limited is set to begin this afternoon (Feb.6) at Alamma Choultry on Dewan’s Road in Shivarampet here.
The polls to elect 12 out of the 13 (one was elected unopposed) new Board of Directors of the Bank was held at Alamma Choultry on Jan.19, in which 3,704 out of the 4,848 voters of the Bank had exercised their franchise.
Results are expected to be out later this evening, according to sources.
Earlier in January, the High Court, in separate interim orders, had stayed the counting of votes polled in respect of both the Banks as some members of the respective Banks had moved the Court after being denied voting rights.
