Mysuru: Mysore Diocese Educational Society (MDES) had organised a function at St. Philomena’s College auditorium in Bannimantap here yesterday to felicitate 202 meritorious Catholic Christian students who had excelled at various levels from SSLC to Ph.D and also in vocational courses.
The students hailed from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts.
Inaugurating the programme, Stany D’souza, Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit Province, opined that students should have set goals and added that hard-work with perseverance would always pay rich dividends. He advised the students not to be carried away by the awards but focus on learning more and becoming a responsible citizen.
Addressing the gathering, Mysuru Bishop Dr. K.V. William asked the students to bring a good name to their parents and the institutions.
Former Bishop Dr. Thomas Antony Vazhappilly, MDES Health and Education Division CEO Leslie Moras, Vicar General C. Royappa, Secretary Rev. Fr. Vijay Kumar, St. Philomena’s College PG Centre Rector Bernad Prakash, St. Joseph’s Educational Institutions CEO Mani Mathew and others were present during the occasion.
