Mysore/Mysuru: The three-day Annual Medicine Update 2022 programme organised by Mysore Physicians Medical and Research Trust (MPMRT) was inaugurated by Dr. Surinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, on Apr. 8.
More than 300 delegates including Post-Graduate students of General Medicine and practicing Physicians, Family Physicians of Mysuru and outstation, attended the programme. Several renowned academicians participated as resource persons.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Dr. Surinder Singh appreciated the good academic activities done by the Trust and also thanked the office-bearers of MPMRT for supporting research and promoting knowledge update of contemporary clinical medicine.
He also stressed the importance of keeping pace with recent advances in medicine.
The Trust was inaugurated by K.B. Ganapathy in 1985 and since then has been conducting Annual Medicine Update for the past 17 years. It awards the Oration and Gold Medals to the great academicians of the State.
For the first time, the National President of Association of Physicians of India (API), Dr. Kamlesh Tiwari delivered the prestigious Oration in the name of Dr. T.B. Basavarajendra. Annual Medicine Update 2022 involved problem-based clinical case discussions on various systemic diseases and also had an exciting quiz programme for interns.
The Trust awards Gold Medals and Certificates for toppers in MBBS course from Mysore Medical College, which was installed by 1966 alumni batch of MMC&RI. Dr. S. Vindhya and Dr. B. Sandeep were the recipients of this honour, which was given by Dr. M. Premanath, Senior Physician and donor representative. MPMRT has supported 20 clinical research grants to various researchers in medicine and has also given financial assistance for conducting CME (Continuing Medical Education) programmes by various medical organisations. Annual Medicine Update 2022 concluded with a quiz in internal medicine in the name of Dr. M.V. Govindappa, late renowned Physician of city.
The Trust honoured Dr. M.A. Shekar on Apr. 9 during general body meeting on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University.
