Mysore Toastmasters Club hits 500; Celebrates a journey of growth

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Toastmasters (MTM) recently celebrated its 500th meeting and 14th anniversary at a hotel in city. The club originated in 2010 when seven college students and visionaries from Learner’s PU came together to establish Mysore Toastmasters.

Reflecting on the club’s beginnings, Charter President Shilpa Deshpande said, “When we started this club, none of us knew how long our commitment would last.” Past President, District Director (DTM) Rohit Koka reminisced about the early struggles, stating, “We hardly counted meeting numbers until 2014; attendance was a challenge.” Yet, 14 years later, MTM stands strong, thanks to the dedication of its members.

Toastmasters International, under which MTM operates, aims to create a supportive learning environment, empow-ering members to enhance communication and leadership skills. With its 100th anniversary approaching in 2024 and boasting 2,80,000 members across 15,800 clubs in 149 countries, MTM shines as the only community club in Mysuru, welcoming individuals above 18 from diverse backgrounds.

The 500th meeting was a grand celebration, attended by MTM members, distinguished past members and District Directors. The event featured an improv session, a panel discussion, speeches, table topics and engaging activities.
