Mysore University to focus on Stadium development: VC

The sportspersons, who were felicitated by the PGSC on Friday for representing the University of Mysore (UoM) in various sports events, are seen with UoM VC Prof. G. University of Mysore will focus on development of proper stadium for the benefit of sportspersons at Manasagangothri campus, which it sadly lacks, said University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Sports Day celebrations and distributing prizes to sportspersons who have represented the University in various disciplines at a programme organised by the Post Graduate Sports Council (PGSC) at Manasagangothri campus here on Friday.

“If the students have to be physically strong, then proper well-equipped sports stadiums are required. However, it is                                                      sadly missing in Manasagangothri campus and this problem will be resolved at the earliest. It is also important to have good facilities for training if students have to take part in the national and international level. Hence, required amenities will be provided,” he assured.

State Intelligence Department – Mysuru Branch SP B.T. Kavitha speaking said that every student who involves oneself in sport will be able to shape one’s life in a disciplined manner. Also, those involved in sports will have a healthy mind in a healthy body, she added.

Sportspersons G.D. Ranjith, S. Kumar, S.C. Dililpkumar, Prithvi Dev, Hemanth, A.J. Vasudev, L. Sachin, V. Sachin, Sohail Ahmed, C.S. Niranjan Kumar, C.M. Soumya, C.S. Manasa, M.P. Pallavi, P.P. Manju, P.P. Manju, A.P. Punith, Madan Mohan, H.D. Lohit Kumar, P. Vishnu, M. Varun, Yodhan and U. Soumya were presented a cash prize of Rs.2,500 each.
