Mysurean enters Harvard World Records Book

Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. B. Nirmala, retired Associate Professor and Head of Hindi Department, Maharani’s Science College, Mysuru, has set a world record in the field of literature.

Her Kannada poem, ‘Yava Astitvave illa, Astitvave illa, Astitvave ilia’ and Hindi poem, ‘Ek Shaheed ka Paigaum’ have found place in the maximum international collection of poems comprising 19 Indian languages marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in the book ‘Akhanda Bharat Ek Yugadrushta’ brought out by Harvard World Records, London. She has also received a copy of the book and a certificate.

 Under the guidance of World Record Holder Dr. Vidushi Sharma from  Delhi, Dr. Nirmala has succeeded in entering the record book which includes poems of 91 poets.

A social activist and a sportsperson, Dr. Nirmala has won many awards and medals at International, National and State-levels for her service in the field of education, literature, NSS etc.

Fondly called as ‘Medal Nirmala’ who has written over 460 poems both in Kannada and Hindi languages, she has also written articles and short stories.

Dr. Nirmala is the daughter of late Mallamma and G.M. Battimallappa, who had                                       served at JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru.
