Mysuru-based C.A. Kuttappa, serving as Subedar in the Army and a resident of Gokulam here, has been nominated for the Dronacharya Award for 2018 in Boxing. Hailing from the Chenanda family, C.A. Kuttappa has been coaching the Indian men’s boxing team since 2009 May. The names have been recommended to the Sports Ministry by the 11-Member Award Committee. The list has been forwarded to Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore for final approval.
Incidentally, V.R. Beedu, who started his athletic coaching career in Mysuru in 1972, presently based in Bengaluru, has also been nominated for the Dronacharaya Award in the Lime Time category.
