Mysuru-based researcher lectures on cancer at Queensland

Mysuru:  Paleyanda Ponnappa Supreetha, a Mysurean doing her Ph.D in Australia, was recently invited as a guest speaker at the Annual Meeting held by Redland Branch of Cancer Council of Queensland, one of the top fund-raising community for research and prevention of cancer.

This researcher is working on “Electropolymerisation of conjugated polymers, for making flexible biosensors”, which can help in early detection of protein in the body (cancerous/ malignant cells). This technique is affordable, portable, better sensitivity and most importantly, will improve the standard of living.

Supreetha, who is associated with Queensland Councillor Wendy Boglary and Councillor and Deputy Mayor Lance Hewlett, was honoured on the occasion. She passed her M.Tech by securing Gold Medal from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). She studied her Engineering at SJCE, Mysuru.

At present, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Nano Engineering Technology in Queensland University, Brisbane, Australia.  Supreetha is supervised by Dr. Prashant Sonar, an Associate Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane and Dr. Mohammad Siddiqui, a senior lecturer at Griffith University. In August this year, she received National Council of Women Queensland (NCWQ) Office For Women (Return to Work) Bursary Award-2018.

Supreetha is the daughter of Paleyanda Ponnappa and Bhagyavathi. While Ponnappa is a senior advocate residing in Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, Bhagyavathi is retired from government service at Harangi. Her brother Paleyanda Ponnappa Santhosh is working as Inspector at Udayagiri Police Station, Mysuru.
