Mysuru Book Clubs launches ‘On the Banks of the Cauvery’

Mysore/Mysuru: The book ‘On the Banks of the Cauvery’, a short story compilation by city-based author Lakshmi Palecanda was launched at an event organised by Mysuru Book Clubs-2015 at the Heritage House,  Old Professors Quarters, Sarswathipuram, Mysuru recently.

Prof. D.S. Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Architect, Desirazu Associates, Mysuru and Shubha Sanjay Urs, Founder of Book Clubs, jointly released the book.

The event began with the author being introduced by Geetha Kariappa, a novelist. Following this the author spoke about her book. ‘If novels are cricket Test matches, short stories are like T-20 games,’ she said.

Recalling unforgettable scenes from novels like Oliver Twist and short stories like Kabuliwallah, she expressed her opinion that both were capable of creating lasting impact in the minds of the reader.

This was followed by a question-and-answer session. The first copies were received by Ramakrishna Rao and Bharathi Ghanashyam. Deepa Venkatesh proposed a vote of thanks.
