Mysuru: District Armed (DAR) Police team, with 67 points, emerged Overall Champions in the three-day Mysuru District Police Annual Sports Meet which concluded at DAR Parade Grounds in Jyothinagar here yesterday.
DAR Constable G.G. Raghunandan and Bylakuppe Police Station Police Constable H.S. Ashwitha won the Individual Championship in the Men’s & Women’s category respectively.
Raghunandan bagged first prize in 100 mts Sprint, 400 mts and 800 mts Running Race, Long-Jump and High-Jump, securing 25 points, while Ashwitha bagged first prize in 100 mts Sprint, Shot-Put, Long-Jump and High-Jump, securing 20 points.

Delivering the valedictory address after distributing prizes to the winners, DIG (Southern Range) Dr. M.B. Boralingaiah said that Policemen must take part in sports for maintaining physical and mental fitness. Pointing out that Policemen work round-the-clock, for which physical fitness is absolutely necessary, he said that fitness plays a key role in the Police professionalism.
Reiterating that Policemen need to practice exercises and involve in sports, the DIG said that Police personnel need to make it a practise for doing physical exercises at least four days a week.
