Mysuru to host Mushaira for the first time during Dasara festivities

Mysuru: With an intent to preserve the secular traditions of the country during the historical Mysuru Dasara, ‘Mushaira’ — an evening gathering where Urdu Poetry is read — will be held during the Dasara Festivities in the city.

The event is proposed to be held at Golden Palace Convention Hall on Sept. 27.

According to Deputy Commissioner and Dasara Special Officer D. Randeep, ‘Mushaira’ — the poetic symposium, a  much loved part of the culture of Deccan, north India and Hyderabadi Muslims will be held during the Mysuru Dasara.

“This is the first time during Dasara, Mushaira will be held in the city and an official Sub-Committee has been formed to work out the arrangements,” says DC Randeep.

It was decided to organise ‘Mushaira’ during a meeting chaired by District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa recently. As part of this, an exclusive Sub-Committee was formed by the Dasara                            Special Officer.

Puttaraju, District Officer of the Minority Welfare Department has been appointed as the Deputy Special Officer whereas Dr. Jabeena, Professor of Maharaja College and Abdul Khaleel of District Wakf Board has been appointed as the Executive President and Secretary for the Committee.
