Mysuru Kannada Vedike stages protest against proposed amusement park at KRS

Mysuru: Opposing the proposed construction of an amusement park by the State Government at Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS), members of Mysuru Kannada Vedike staged a protest near the old Deputy Commissioner’s Office in city yesterday.

Pointing out that KRS Dam was not built for the Deputy Chief Minister to make merry there, the protestors said that the Dam was built for the farmers to take up agricultural activities and to provide drinking water to the people of Mysuru and Bengaluru. “It is not right on the part of the Minister to speak as per his will by sitting in a corner of Vidhana Soudha without having a little knowledge about the history of Cauvery River and Mysuru,” they added.

Stating that a few MLA’s, farmer leaders, pro-Kannada activists from Mysuru and Mandya regions are fighting against the proposed amusement park, the protestors alleged that the Ministers in the State Government were speaking as if they had built the KRS Dam.

“The State Government is acting like the Tughlaqs without considering the people of Mysuru and Mandya. None of the farmers are being respected. The Government is speaking as if Cauvery River is its property,” the protestors expressed their anger and demanded roll back of the proposed amusement park construction.

Vedike President S. Balakrishna, Naalabeedhi Ravi, Bogadi Siddegowda, Palace Babu, Gurubasappa, Madappa, Govindaraju, Kaveramma, Harish, Prema, Sunil and others took part in the protest.
