Mysuru kickboxers win medals at Intl. Championship

The medal-winning kickboxers — H.M. Shrihari, M. Srivatsav, Suhas, M.N. Tejas and A. Ranjit —are seen with their coach Harsha Shankar.

The following kickboxers from Academy of Self Defence (ASD) Fight Club have won two Gold Medals and four Silver Medals at the WAKO Nepal  International Kickboxing Championship-2019 held at Indoor Stadium, Dasarath Rangasala, Kathmandu, Nepal, from June 1 to 4:

H.M. Srihari – Gold in Light Contact and Silver in Point Fighting; M. Srivatsav – Gold in Low Kick; M.N. Thejas – Silver in Light Contact; Suhas – Silver in Low Kick; A. Ranjith – Silver in Low Kick.

Srihari, hailing from Holenarasipur in Hassan, is a final year engineering student at Maharaja Institute of Technology (MIT). Srivatsav is a student of Vidyavardhaka Engineering College. Tejas has completed degree from Cauvery Educational Institutions. Suhas is a student of SBRR Mahajana FGC. Ranjit is a painter.

The five players were selected for the International Championship after winning at the National-level Championship held in March in Pune.

ASD Coach Harsha Shankar has effectively trained the young kick-boxers.

In this International event, WAKO India (Team India) took part with a strong 54 Members Contingent and secured 1st Place in Medal Tally with 38 Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals & nine Bronze Medals.
