Mysuru/Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Mysuru Division will operate additional 70 buses to ease Gowri-Ganesha festival rush.
KSRTC Divisional Controller (Rural), Mysuru, R. Ashok, speaking to Star of Mysore, said that 50 regular buses and 20 Volvo and Rajahamsa buses would be pressed into service. As there is huge demand for Gokarna, Karwar and Sirsi routes, additional buses would operate to these destinations.
He revealed that there are 5 to 10 spare buses in all depots in Mysuru and these buses are being utilised. Ashok said that city buses and buses to rural areas will be increased based on demand. He said that there will be no change in fares. However, there might be changes in reservation cost, he added.
Meanwhile, KSRTC, Bengaluru, has made elaborate arrangements for passengers in view of festive weekend. An additional 1,800 buses would ply from Bengaluru. KSRTC is offering a 5% discount on one-time bookings made by four or more persons and a 10% discount is offered on simultaneous return journey bookings.
Special buses will be operated from Kempegowda Bus Station to Coastal and Malnad districts besides regular operations towards North Karnataka and Tirupati. Buses towards Mysuru, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar will be operated from Mysuru Road Satellite Bus Station.
Advance ticket booking facility has been provided through KSRTC website and computerised counters both in Karnataka and other States. All premium special bus services will operate from Shantinagar Bus Station to various places.
