Mysuru lad Venkatesh, a first B.Com student of SBRR Mahajana College, Mysuru, and a product of Jo Jo CC, is one among the three players from Karnataka to be selected to the U-19 National Cricket Academy camp to be held at Jaipur from Apr.15 to May 15. The other two players from Karnataka are Shubhang Hegde and K.V. Anish.
Venkatesh, a right-hand medium-pacer and a left-hand top-order bat, performed well for Karnataka in the U-19 Inter-State matches, and played for India Red team in the Challenger series. He also attended MRF pace Academy camp at Chennai last week and was guided by chief fast bowling coach Glenn McGrath.
Venkatesh also represented Karnataka in the U-23 Inter-State tournament this year. He was part of the South Zone University team which won the Vizzy trophy this year. He was part of the University of Mysore team which finished runner-up in the Rohiton Baria All India Inter-University tournament 2018-19 and runner-up in the South Zone Inter-University tournament.
Venkatesh is being coached by senior cricketer Surendra at the Jo Jo Cricket Club. He is the son of A. Muralidhara and K.R. Dakshayini, residents of Vijayanagar III Stage in Mysuru.
