Mysuru Literature Festival-2020: Virtual session tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: The fourth edition of Mysuru Literature Festival-2020 organised by Mysuru Literary Forum Charitable Trust and Mysuru Book Clubs-2015 being held virtually on every weekend from Aug. 14, will conclude on Sept. 5. This edition has a wide range of authors and speakers as Panellists. Today, SOM features tomorrow’s Panellist Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Moderator Roopa Pai.

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan (Panellist)

Taught by his father Haafiz Ali Khan, who was the court musician in Gwalior, Amjad Ali Khan was born to the illustrious Bangash lineage rooted in the Senia Bangash School of Music. Over the course of a distinguished career spanning more than six decades, Khan has won numerous accolades including a Grammy nomination, the Crystal Award by the World Economic Forum, Unicef’s National Ambassadorship and the Fukuoka Cultural Grand Prize. He has performed at venues the world over including Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as at the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize Concert in 2014 in Oslo, Norway. He is also awarded the second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan. Amjad Ali Khan’s wife Subhalakshmi Khan has been a great exponent of the Indian classical dance, Bharatnatyam. As a soul, so in his heart, he is a man who has proven his indomitable belief in the integration of two of life’s greatest forces, love and music. He is a living example of a man who practices that integration each day of his life, both on stage and off stage.

Roopa Pai (Moderator)

Roopa Pai is one of India’s best-known writers for children. Her best-known books include the 8-part Taranauts, India’s first fantasy-adventure series for children in English, Ready! 99 Must-Have Skills For The World-Conquering Teenager (And Almost-Teenager), the award-winning national bestseller The Gita For Children, listed by Amazon India as one of ‘100 Indian Books To Read In A Lifetime’, and its ‘prequel’ The Vedas And Upanishads For Children. Her TEDx talk ‘Decoding The Gita, India’s Book Of Answers’ has received over 1.5 million views to date.She has most recently co-authored fitness evangelist and supermodel Milind Soman’s memoir, Made In India, and is currently working on a book of poetry translation, in which she is translating 100 poems of the much-acclaimed Kannada poet, Padma Shri K.S. Nisar Ahmed, into English.
