Sir,

It is heartening to note that the State Government has taken the commendable step of forming the much-needed ‘Chamundi Hill Development Authority’, as reported in SOM dated Feb. 22.

Hopefully, this Authority will play a crucial role in safeguarding and preserving the sanctity of Chamundi Hill, protecting it from encroachment, misuse and mismanagement. I sincerely hope that the Chamundi Hill Authority will not inadvertently support any potential devious plans of the State Government, such as the proposed ropeway to Chamundi Hill. Preserving the natural and spiritual essence of this sacred Hill should be a paramount objective for the Authority.

Furthermore, I would like to emphasise the immediate necessity of establishing a permanent Dasara Festival Authority. Such an Authority would contribute to the meticulous and proactive planning of the Annual Dasara celebrations. By ensuring thorough planning, the Authority can enhance the overall experience and success of the festivities each year.

I trust that the Chamundi Hill Authority will work diligently towards the betterment and preservation of our cultural and spiritual heritage, as well as the permanent Dasara Authority when it is formed.
