Mysore/Mysuru: Two students from Mysuru have secured top ranks in the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) Olympiad exam for 2023-24.
K.P. Dhanyatha, a third-grade student from NPS International, Mysuru, obtained the first rank in the National Science Olympiad, earning an international gold medal and a merit certificate.
Atreyi Pal, an eighth-grade student from Excel Public School, Mysuru, got second rank in International English Olympiad, receiving an international silver medal and a merit certificate.
This year’s SOF Olympiad saw participation from millions of students across 70 countries, including 27,665 students from Mysuru. The SOF hosted an awards ceremony in New Delhi to honour the winners, their teachers and principals for the academic year 2023-24.
The awards ceremony was attended by Prof. Y.S. Rajan, former Vikram Sarabhai Distinguished Professor, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Visionary Scientist, Author, Technologist; C.S. Ashish Mohan, Secretary, Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and R. Ravi, CEO, Founder, Epiance Software Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, as guests of honour.
Other distinguished guests included former Chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra, and renowned author and screenwriter Chetan Bhagat.
Mahabir Singh, Founder-Director of SOF, announced the completion of 26 years of organising Olympiad exams. He said, “This academic year witnessed participation of over 91,000 schools from 70 countries, with millions of students involved.”
“More than 1,30,000 students from 7,000 schools received awards for top State-level ranks, and over 10,00,000 students were honoured with gold medals of excellence. Additionally, 3,500 principals and teachers were recognised for their dedication to enhancing students’ academic knowledge,” he added.
