‘Nutrition, Lifestyle Medicine and Sustainable Health Care’
Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. Chandrashekar’s Cauvery Ayurveda Research and Development (CCARD), a dedicated wing of Cauvery Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru, will be hosting an International Conference on ‘Intersecting Nutrition, Lifestyle Medicine and Sustainable Health Care’ on Dec.26 and 27 at the SDM Institute of Management Development (SDM-IMD) campus, Chamundi Hill Road, Siddarthanagar in city.
The conference is Co-organised by Maharaja Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences College and Hospital, Mandya. The collaborating organisations are SDM-IMD, State Institute for Urban Development at ATI Campus, Mysuru and VECASUM-Department of Economics and Co-operation, University of Mysore (UoM).
The global healthcare landscape is witnessing a paradigm shift towards integrative, preventive and sustainable healthcare models. Rising non-communicable diseases (NCDs), environmental degradation and the limitations of fragmented healthcare systems necessitate a convergence of evidence-based nutrition, lifestyle medicine and eco-conscious sustainable healthcare delivery.
Ayurveda, with its holistic emphasis on diet (Ahara), lifestyle (Vihara) and sustainable healthcare thought process (Arogya Vichara) in light of ecological harmony offers timeless wisdom.
This conference aims to bridge a powerful confluence of tradition and science with contemporary research in nutrition, lifestyle interventions and sustainable healthcare practices that aligns with modern evidence-based approaches to address 21st-century health challenges.
Guided by the visionary leadership of Dr. G.R. Chandrashekar, Dr. Sarala Chandrashekar and a dedicated academic team, Cauvery Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital is emerging as a centre of excellence in Ayurveda and holistic health sciences.
The conference will see Academic Sessions by eminent speakers, Panel Discussions with interdisciplinary experts and Scientific Paper & Poster Presentations.
The distinguished speakers include Padma Shree Dr. V. Prakash, former Director of CFTRI, Mysuru, who will deliver the keynote address, Dr. Bhaswathi Bhattacharya (USA), Dr. Vijayendra Murthy (UK), who will deliver the valedictory address, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Balekundri (Bengaluru), Dr. Jagadish Vishnu Yaji (Sirsi), Dr. Rajendra Yenkannamoole (Australia), Dr. Jamuna Prakash (Mysuru), Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chand (former Vice-Chancellor of North Orissa University), Dr. Prasad Deshpande (Mumbai), Yogacharya Rakesh (Mysuru) and Dr. Vinaya Padyana (Hyderabad).
The conference will be inaugurated by Dr. Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt and Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, former Deputy Chief Minister, on Dec. 26 at 5 pm. Dr. B.C. Bhagavan, Vice-Chancellor of RGUHS, will preside.
The valedictory function on Dec. 27 will be graced by Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt, Padma Vibhushan Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Srikshetra Dharmasthala and Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Mysuru District Minister. Dr. G. R. Chandrashekar, Chairman, Cauvery Group of Institutions (CGOI), will preside.
MLAs G.T. Devegowda and T.S. Srivatsa, Dr. S.N. Prasad, Director, SDM-IMD, Dr. B.G. Naresh Kumar, President MET, Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Jadhav, NCISM, New Delhi and Dr. Vipin Singh, AYUSH Commissioner, will participate.
The cultural event on the evening of Dec. 26 will see a ballet ‘Sanatana Satkriya’ by Mysuru’s Nada Vidyalaya troupe.
Awards
Two Lifetime Achievement Awards in the categories of Best Academician ‘Cauvery Ayurveda Guru Tilaka’ and Best Clinician ‘Cauvery Ayurveda Vaidya Shreshta’ instituted by Dr. Chandrashekar Foundation, will be conferred on Dr. N. Anjaneya Murthy (Mysuru) and Dr. Jagadish Vishnu Yaji (Sirsi) respectively at the valedictory.
