Mysuru: The year-long Golden Jubilee celebrations of the NSS Wing of University of Mysore (UoM) will commence from tomorrow (Sep.24).
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, UoM NSS Co-ordinator Dr. B. Chandrashekhar said that MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha will inaugurate the Golden Jubilee celebration of the NSS Wing at 11am tomorrow at Rani Bahadur Auditorium on Hunsur road, Manasagangothri. UoM Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna will preside.
Yadavagiri RIMSE Correspondent Swami Maheshatmanandaji and State NSS officer Dr. Gananatha Shetty Ekkar will be the chief guests, he said.
Pointing out that a celebration committee has been constituted to chalk out year-long programmes, Chandrashekar said that the NSS Wing of the University came into existence on Sept. 24, 1969 when Dr. K.L. Srimali was the Vice-Chancellor.
The centenary celebrations which will go on till Sept. 24, 2019 will feature workshops, Inter-collegiate cultural contests, lectures and seminars, he said.
Former UoM NSS officers Prof. B.K. Shivanna and Prof. Kala Channegowda were present at the press meet.
