Sir,
I would like to give a feedback to the District Authorities on the ongoing first Mysuru Winter Festival.
The Musical Fountain at Kuppana Park was a non-starter at least on the first two days. There was not even enough lighting at the place; the traffic and the Circle leading to the Park was chaotic.
The Flower Show coupled with Dolls Show at the Palace is indeed very good, attracts a lot of pleased visitors and some cash collection for entry could have been easily done to make up the expenses incurred and keep a count on the visitors. They would have paid ungrudgingly.
There was a feedback book at the EXIT though. The Dasara festival earlier this year did have an entrance fee and unfortunately it flopped later due to unexpected rains.
I observed that the area did not have an emergency first-aid centre or an ambulance parked close by to carry the injured to the nearest hospital at a place of such crowding. In case of any accidental stampede, such facilities are very necessary.
It should also have e-toilet- like rest rooms which can send a message all across that we are at last now in the ‘learning curve.’ A very snap of such facilities could speak volumes across other States.
Hope my views would reach the authorities concerned and the next time I see such events some of my feedback would be acted upon. Karnataka Tourism would do well to have a stall at such places to catch the attention of their target audience.
