The students of Nadavidyalaya – Academy of Music & Dance, Mysuru, in all 75 budding talents — beginners, sub-juniors and juniors — took part in the programme ‘Nada Nritya Mukula’ under the guidance and direction of Guru Vidu. Mithra Naveen, at Ramagovinda Kalavedike, Ganabharathi, Kuvempunagar, recently.
Vidu. Aranya Vivek, Artistic Director of Flute N Feet Academy, Bengaluru, was the chief guest. Vid. Vyasateertha Acharya, spiritual orator and Bharatanatyam artiste, was the guest of honour.
To begin with, the tiny flowers of Nadavidyalaya presented Pushpanjali, a floral invocatory piece of Bharatanatyam repertoire in Naata raag set to adi taala. It was followed by alaripu and jathiswara, the nrittabandas of Bharatanatyam margam.
Next presentation was Shankar Bhajan. Praying to Shiva Shankar along with Parvati who always holds triumph over the evil as Ardhanaareeshwara and the one who has Ardhachandra on the head, which symbolises the removal of the attachment with the worldly existence was in raaga Yaman Kalyani set to chaturashra eka taala scripted by Sri Satya Sai Baba. Achyutaashtaka composed by Adi Shankaracharya was the next on the list.
Krishna being one of the Vishnu’s dashavataras, killing the demons, praising the names of Krishna as the one giving shelter to the people of Gopa Vrinda, as Damodar, as Sridhara of Lakshmi, as Madhava, the tiny-tots danced with their tiny steps for Achutamkeshavam in Adi taala set to Raga Mohana.
Blessed is Radhe who knows the pastimes of Sri Krishna. Krishna as Radhikaapate, the husband of Radhe, Gopika Vallabha, the lover of gopikas, Devakisuta, the adorable son of Devaki who has the lotus-like smile, that Krishna who is the Dwarkadeesan was praised and danced in with Jayakaaras by the students of Nada Vidyalaya in Raga Madhyamavati Adita composed by M.G. Radhakrishnan.
Devi Bhavana Mana Mohini, a patriotic presentation penned by Ravindranath Tagore by the junior batch was captivating. The mother who preserves the entire planet, the blue oceans wash her feet, the wind waves her green veil, the sky-kissing white snow-capped peaks scented with beauty dance their obeisances to the mother with love for their country. It was set to adi taala and in abheri raag.
Immediate one was Vaikunta Narayana vittala — a devaranama. Lord of all worlds Vishvaroopi Narayana as the protector of Dharma who saved the earth and made it Vaikuntha. Srihari giving room to Goddesses Lakshmi as his bosom in his vakshasthala, hailing as Vaikunthapathi was praised and danced with heart in Raga Tilang set to Adi taala. It is a Composition by Bhadragiri Kesavadas.
Akalanka Charita Makara Kundala Dara ‘Harikunidanamma Harikunida’ was the next performance.
Students of Nada Vidyalaya were found giving happiness to the eyes dancing with joy the devaranama in Raga Malaya Maruta Adi taala composed by Purandara Dasa.
Next in list was Yadava raaya, a devaranama. Born in a Yadava clan and brought up by his mother Yashoda, Krishna who plays the venu in Brindavan with the gopis like Radha and her friends were seen as a story line of the song.
Govinda, Gopala, Gopika Vallabha, Sri Pati and so on, the children danced in the name of God by Guna Gana in Raga Sindhu Bhairavi set to Adita and composed by Sri Vadirajaru.
Accompanying artistes include Direction and Natuvangam by Guru Vidu. Mithra Naveen, vocal by Vid. M.S. Naveen, mridanga by Vid. G.S. Nagaraj and flute by Vid. Vivek Krishna. Vidu. Harshitha Amruth was Master of the Ceremony.
The jam packed audience as well as the auditorium was resonated with bhakti & bhava and a hope of light that next generation will do preserve and pervade the pristine purity of our rich culture of art.
