Sri Nadabrahma Sangeeta Sabha, Mysuru, brings two grand Veena concerts this weekend.
On Oct. 26, Vidu. Emani Lalitha Krishna will present a Karnatak classical veena recital at 6 pm. She will be accompanied on mridanga by Vid. Nikshit Puttur and on ghata by Vid. Srinidhi R. Kaundinya.
Profile: Emani Lalitha Krishna is a distinguished artiste graded ‘A’ in both Veena and Chitraveena categories of the AIR. She has been featured on Veena in The National Programme of Music and in the Sangeeta Sammelan concert on Chitraveena.
Trained initially by her grandfather Meduri Narasimha Rao and mother Lakshmi Somayajulu, she had her higher lessons from famed artistes Vid. Annavarapu Ramaswamy and Vid. N. Ravikiran, with whom she gives duet concerts. She had accompanied Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna’s vocal on the veena.
On Oct. 27, the Sabha will be celebrating 104th birth anniversary programmes of Sangeeta Kalanidhi, Padma Bhushana Dr. Mysore V. Doreswamy Iyengar.
At 10 am, Vid. A. Dilip Simha will give a vocal concert with Vidu. Prithvi Bhaskar on violin, Vid. Sai Shiv Lakshmikeshav on mridanga and Vid. Y.P. Vikram Bharadwaj on morching. At 11.30 am, Vid. Phanindra Sharma Anoor will render a vocal concert with the same accompaniment.
At 6 pm, Vidu. Kasi Vishalakshi will be conferred the title ‘Vainika Brahma’ followed by her veena duet concert with Vidu. Pappu Padma Ravishankar. They will be accompanied on mridanga by Vid. Sunil Subramanya and on ghata by Vid. Shamit Gowda.
Profile: Kasi Vishalakshi has been captivating audiences with her soulful music for over three decades. Hailing from a family of musicians, she has been winning laurels through her journey since childhood and has also been graded as ‘A Top’ artiste of AIR and Doordarshan. She trained under Dr. V. Doreswamy Iyengar and C. Krishnamurthy.
A recipient of several awards, she exhibits the sober tonal qualities of the rich Mysore Bani and Vijayanagaram school with emphasis on sahityam and bhava in her rendering. She has collaborated with Sangeeta Kalanidhi Nedanuri Krishnamurthy for the background score of Annamacharya kritis, has led several Panchaveena concerts and performed a number of ‘Veena-Venu-Violin set of concerts.
Vidu. Padma Ravishankar is a versatile musician adept at Veena and vocal music. She is an ‘A’ grade artiste of All India Radio, Vishakapatnam. Her experience as a vocalist, combined with the distinct fingering technique she inherited, makes the listeners feel as if she is singing through the veena. She has been training several students in India and abroad, some of whom have achieved great heights.
As the Head of the Department at BVK College, Vishakapatnam, she was instrumental in the development of the Department of Music. She has a music career spanning over five decades.
Music-lovers and connoisseurs may attend the concerts.
