Mysuru: A preliminary meeting on celebrating Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti in city was held at the DC’s office on Saturday.
MLA Vasu presided over the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Vasu said Kempegowda Jayanti is being officially celebrated across the State on June 27 for the first time. Accordingly, the Jayanti is being celebrated in the city too, he said.
Calling for the active involvement of all communities and sections of the society in the celebrations of the Jayanti, the MLA called upon the leaders to ensure total success of the celebrations.
Vasu further said that a grand procession of the portrait of Kempegowda, accompanied by cultural and folk troupes, will be taken out from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the North Gate of the Palace at 9 am on that day, following which a stage programme will be held at Kalamandira at 11 am.
Additional DC T. Venkatesh said that as per protocol, the District Administration has sent invitation to all dignitaries.
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will take the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness at Kalamandira during the stage programme, while the Police will take car of security, he added.
Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director H. Channappa, Mysuru-Chamarajanagar Vokkaligara Sangha President Mahalingam, State Vokkaligara Sangha Directors Dr. Mahadev and Prasanna Gowda, Kannada Vedike’s Thayur Vittalmurthy, Sarvajananga Hitarakshana Vedike President Venugopal, Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna and others attended the meeting.
