Mysuru: The District Administration in association with Kannada and Culture Department has decided to celebrate Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti in a grand manner on June 27.
A decision to this effect was taken at the preliminary meeting convened to discuss the preparations under the Chairmanship of Assistant Commissioner Shivegowda at his Office on June 10.
He directed the officials concerned to make all necessary preparations to provide wide publicity to the function besides to educate the masses about the contributions of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the builder of capital city Bengaluru.
A procession will be taken out on the same day at 9.30 am from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple carrying the portrait of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. The participation of folk troupes will be the main attraction of the procession.
A public programme will be held at Kalamandira on the same day at 11.30 am. State Higher Education and District Minister G.T. Devegowda will inaugurate. Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra will preside.
Shivegowda has asked the all district-level officials to be present at the function as well as representatives of pro-Kannada Organisations and community organisations in large numbers.
He also directed the Police to ensure adequate bandobust for the programme.
Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture H. Chennappa, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, Senior Kannada activist Thayuru Vittalamurthy and various community leaders were present at the meeting.
