Mysuru: Chamaraja BJP MLA L. Nagendra has appealed Governor Vajubhai R. Vala, who is also the Chancellor of all State-run Universities in the State, to appoint a regular Vice-Chancellor for University of Mysore (UoM) at the earliest.
In a letter to the Governor, Nagendra said that the century-old University is known for its academic excellence and now in the absence of a regular VC, the University activities seems to have taken a beating.
Pointing out that the University had eminent personalities such as Kuvempu and Nadoja Javaregowda as its Vice-Chancellor, Nagendra blamed the apathy of people representatives and the previous Government for the absence of a regular VC.
Noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has great plans for transforming higher education in the country, Nagendra said that he has written to the PM appealing him to grant the UoM the same status accorded to Central University, the letter said.
